The hotel was warm even in early May, providing clean and comfortable rooms that surpassed the online images. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere during our stay. The remarkable location, amidst the shopping district, with views of the cathedral and parking included, made exploring Wells a delight. The hotel overlooks the cathedral, and while the rooms were very tired and the bathrooms in desperate need of refurbishment, they were comfortable and served our needs at a price of £144 per night. The service was friendly, helpful, and polite, with excellent staff. The location was ideal, within walking distance of the Cathedral, Bishops Palace, shops, and many restaurants, although noise from nearby restaurants was an issue. The dining experience was adequate but not outstanding. Overall, it's a mixed bag with potential for improvement.
